2007 Trip to the Lakes

Well a great trip again for the Barrels. Thanks to Steve Franklin for filling in for absent Barrels making a perfect 12.

A drive to Keswick and found the golf club easily. A rather wet start but not too bad. It was gratifying to know the weather was no better and in fact worse at home. Uphill and down dale with some really interesting holes. It rained but for the cyclicts a preview of the C2C where the railway track runs through the golf course. After some libation a run to Carlisle and the hotel. Dinner and more drinking.

The next morning was cloudy but bright and after an adventurous run to Siloth using Gordon's Sat Nav the sun was fulll on and glorious, white fluffy clouds and all that. 18 holes were played for the Silver Golfers folowed by lunch and then 9 holes with the wind blowing what a difference. A return to Carlisle not using the Sat Nav was the order of the day and successfully managed. Dinner in the evening and more drinking.

The Tuesday am dawned bright again and we set off for Brampton, Gordons' sat nav again meant we were last there. No matter a hilly course but with spectacular views and as we were advised oxygen was needed on many holes. The sun blazed down again even better to hear the torrential downpours being experieced in Brum. Thanks to Eric for superb organisation again and the inexpensiveness of the hotel a job for life I think?
